ABOUT
Hi there -- I'm Alexis! (The cute one in the photo is Lila.) I'm excited you're taking the time to read my "About Me" so you can get to know me a little better. To sum up the generic deets: I'm a Texan, born and raised; I graduated from the University of Texas at Austin in May 2014 (Hook 'em!); and I currently reside in Chicago, Illinois. I'm a huge supporter of local businesses, with a few of my faves being Licha's Cantina, Juiceland, Mitscoots, Banger's Sausage House, Alamo Drafthouse, and Sheffield's Beer & Wine Garden.
Do you feel like you know me now? Probably not. To help with this, I answered some quirky questions that may give you a better idea of who Alexis Chastain (that's me) really is. Enjoy.

What’s the #1 most played song on your iPhone?
“Many the Miles” by Sara Bareilles
What is one of your favorite quotes?
“The sea has never been kind to man; at most it has been the accomplice of human restlessness." - Joseph Conrad
What is your favorite form of exercise?
Cycling. I used to be all about running, but I love how much further you can go cycling, seeing more of what's out there.
What is your favorite time of day/day of the week/month of the year?
It's cliche, but I thoroughly enjoy the holiday season because, anywhere you go, you can feel the magic in the air!
What’s your least favorite mode of transportation?
Segway.
If you could throw any kind of party, what would it be like and what would it be for?
I'd throw a French-style Masquerade ball. When guests walked in, dressed in their extravagant attire, they'd feel transported back in time to 17th century France (I'm kind of a history nut). What would it be for? Nothing in particular. I would throw it just because.
If you were immortal for a day, what would you do?
I'd swim to the deepest depths of the ocean, so I could explore one of Earth's most mysterious places.
If you won the lottery, what is the first thing you would do?
Freeze in disbelief. Oh...after that? Buy multiple properties across the world.
If you could know the answer to any question, besides “What is the meaning of life?”, what would it be?
How many licks does it take to get to the center of Tootsie Pop?! -- I HAVE TO KNOW!
If you could be any fictional character, who would you choose?
Mystique from X-Men because, then, I could transform into any fictional character.
What/who do you want to be when you grow up?
I want to be someone who can look back and know they put all their potential to use...and then some.
What songs are included on the soundtrack to your life?
"Brand New Day" by Joshua Radin, "Hit Me With Your Best Shot" by Pat Benatar, "The Story" by Brandi Carlile, "Respect" by Aretha Franklin, and other tracks, yet to be revealed.
What story does your family always tell about you?
Growing up, whenever I would bang up some part of my body (like stub my toe, for example), as I sat and wallowed in my pain, my dad would sarcastically say to me, "How about I step on your other toe, and it'll make you forget all about that one." Well, one day, my dad and I were running late to school (I couldn't have been more than eight at the time). As we rushed into the car, my dad carelessly slammed his pointer finger into the car door. He screamed in agony and said a couple choice words -- I'm sure. Calmly, yet with pleasure (so Dad says), I turn to my father and say, "How about you let me slam your other finger in the door, and you'll forget all about that one." My dad says that "although [he] was in so much pain, [he] could not help but to burst out with laughter."
The best part of waking up is?
Knowing you're starting the day with a blank canvas and you're the artist... Either that or Folgers in your cup.
